About SEDA
Southeast Distribution Association (SEDA), a not-for-profit corporation, was founded in 2007 by twelve companies involved in international shipping of lumber, logs, and other forest products. The intent of the founders was to establish direct ocean freight contracts for its membership by pooling their container volumes. By doing so, the founding members sought to take more control over the shipping process and costs by dealing directly with ocean carriers instead of through a third party NVOCC.
In 2008, SEDA partnered with CV International (CVI) to assist in negotiation of direct contracts on behalf of the membership, manage and distribute member's contract rates, and handle freight forwarding services for members. In March of 2009, with the assistance of CVI, SEDA signed a contract with its first ocean carrier and started moving containers on that contract. To-date, SEDA has five partner carriers offering competitive rates to every destination in the world. Each member is a direct customer our partner carrier and has complete visibility to all contracted base ocean freight rates.
The current SEDA membership comprises fourteen companies moving over 10,000 FEUs per annum. SEDA is run by a Board of Directors comprised of members and its appointed officers.
SEDA is actively looking to gain more membership. Please contact membership@southeastdistribution.com for more information or please fill out this form.
